The short answer: five things to check

If you are comparing Odoo implementation partners, start with these five points. Everything below is an elaboration of them.

  • Do they diagnose before they sell? A serious partner looks at your process gaps, data definitions and management bottlenecks before proposing modules — not the other way round.
  • Can the solution reach the process level? Configuration is only the beginning. What matters is whether cross-department flows — sales to inventory to finance — actually work end to end.
  • Is the cost traceable? Hour-based billing with a documented timesheet is verifiable. Flat project packages usually are not.
  • Who is there after go-live? Go-live is not the finish line. Training, on-site support, cutover assistance and later iterations are where a system proves itself.
  • Do they understand your operating context? Production planning and cost accounting for manufacturers, multi-language, multi-currency and compliance for cross-border businesses — these are not covered by a generic template.

Why we rebuilt our own website

Mikorou is an Odoo implementation company based in Suzhou, China, and an Odoo Official Partner with more than three Odoo-certified consultants on the team.

Over the past years we have delivered a large number of module configurations, data migrations and process redesigns for our clients — while our own website stayed untouched. Information was scattered across several entry points, language versions were out of sync, and first-time visitors could hardly tell within a few minutes what we actually do and why we are qualified to do it.

This relaunch reorganised brand presentation, content structure, the Chinese / English / German language versions and the careers section. More importantly, it documents how we work: we start with a management diagnosis, build on Odoo as the digital foundation, use AI to raise efficiency, and aim to be the best at digitalisation for cross-border operations — especially for manufacturing companies.

We prefer to call ourselves a digital partner who understands business. That is not a slogan; it defines the sequence of what we do. We are business people first, and technology providers second.

Diagnosis first, modules second

Many companies start with the question "which modules do we need?", but the real problems usually sit outside the module list: orders that are always chased, inventory that does not reconcile, accounts that can only be reviewed at month-end, one data set with three different versions across three departments.

If these problems stay unresolved, every additional module amplifies the disorder.

Our sequence is therefore: understand the real problem in the process first, then decide which system, which approach and how far to go. Technology is a means; a better-run business is the goal.

Sell the system first → Diagnose, then decide the system
Quote by module → Scope by problem
Go-live ends the project → Go-live is where it starts

This is the most visible difference from a conventional software delivery approach.

How pricing works: by module, by actual hours

The cost of an Odoo implementation depends on how many modules are involved, how deep the processes go, whether existing systems need to be integrated, and whether cross-border or multi-company structures are involved.

We scope by configuration depth and bill by actual hours per role: developer CNY 400/hour, project manager CNY 600/hour, expert consultant CNY 1,500/hour (engaged on demand).

  • Few modules (approx. 25 hours): 1–2 modules, e.g. CRM and sales
  • Several modules (approx. 50 hours): 3–4 modules, e.g. sales, purchasing, inventory, finance
  • Deep multi-module configuration (approx. 100 hours): 5+ modules with cross-department process integration
  • Full scope and process optimisation (approx. 200 hours): the entire business, multiple departments or companies
  • Complex requirements: integration with existing systems, custom development or multi-country operations, billed per person-day

A complete timesheet is provided at the end of the project, so every hour can be verified.

Note: all prices are reference prices in CNY, billed on actual hours, and do not constitute a quotation. Scope, fees and acceptance criteria are defined in the final contract. For international clients, amounts are converted at the exchange rate on the payment date.

Five steps, one partner

  1. Management diagnosis — process gaps and data definitions → diagnosis report and improvement direction
  2. Solution design — module scope, configuration approach and priority → implementation plan and schedule
  3. Development — Odoo configuration and custom development, starting with the most painful gaps → working system with migrated data
  4. Training and go-live — role-based training plus on-site support → a system the team actually uses
  5. Continuous support — ongoing response, process optimisation and feature iterations → a system that keeps evolving

Frequently asked questions

What is Odoo and what can it do?

Odoo is an open-source business management suite covering sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, finance, CRM, projects and HR. Modules can be enabled as needed. For manufacturers it connects orders, inventory and cost accounting; for cross-border businesses it supports multiple languages, currencies and companies. Think of it as a digital foundation rather than a set of isolated features.

How much does an Odoo implementation cost?

It depends on the number of modules and process complexity. As a reference: few modules from around CNY 12,500 (approx. 25 hours), several modules around CNY 25,000 (approx. 50 hours), deep multi-module configuration around CNY 50,000 (approx. 100 hours), full scope and process optimisation around CNY 100,000 (approx. 200 hours). Complex projects are billed per person-day. All figures are reference prices based on actual hours and do not constitute a quotation.

We already run an ERP — can we migrate to Odoo?

Yes, but start with a diagnosis. The first step is to map the existing data structure and how the system is actually used, then decide which historical data to migrate and which processes to improve in the same move. In most cases a phased rollout is preferable to a full switch-over: solve the most painful area first, then extend.

How long does an implementation take?

It scales with module count and process complexity. A few modules can go live within weeks; deep multi-module configurations typically take one to three months; multi-company, multi-language, compliance-driven or heavily customised projects take longer. A reliable estimate is only possible after the management diagnosis.

How are you different from other Odoo partners?

Three things. First, sequence: we diagnose the business before deciding the system, rather than selling modules. Second, pricing: we bill actual hours per role and hand over the timesheet, instead of opaque project packages. Third, continuity: we stay after go-live for process optimisation rather than leaving at acceptance. In addition, our team brings German-Chinese business experience and supports cross-border scenarios for companies entering or operating in China and Europe.

Do you support multiple languages, currencies and companies?

Yes. Odoo natively supports multiple languages, currencies and company structures, which suits cross-border operations. We have delivered projects in Chinese, English and German, and this website itself runs in all three languages. Tax and compliance specifics need to be confirmed separately for each target country.

Who maintains the system after go-live?

We provide continuous support: responding to issues, optimising processes and iterating on features. We also hand over configuration documentation, a module inventory and user manuals, so a future partner can pick up the system if needed. Warranty scope and duration are agreed in the contract.

Are you hiring?

Yes. We currently offer three internship positions: IT generalist (Odoo full stack), course filming and editing, and finance/accounting. Each comes with one-to-one mentoring, with the opportunity to stay on after graduation for strong performers. Details are on our careers page.

Not sure which modules you need?

If you are unsure where to start, the most efficient first step is a management diagnosis: identify where the process actually breaks, then decide how much to invest and which modules to enable.
